This week in Sermons in Song everybody’s favorite
contemporary christian music group brings to us a one of the deepest
and most fulfilling lessons we as Christians will ever have to face.
It is a lesson that is hard to learn but worth it many, many times
over. What is that lesson? Well, A. W. Tozer put it this way:
"The man who has God
as his treasure has all things in one, and he has it purely,
legitimately, and forever!”
The lesson is : we
must learn the “blessedness of having no other treasure but God. We
must be willing to give up anything and everything in our pursuit of
God. Abraham had to learn this and the apostle paul calls him the
father of our faith (Romans 3 and 4 ) and Abraham’s lesson was not
an easy one for it called upon him to sacrifice his son Issac. Yet,
he knew the value of knowing God and he knew that God was faithful
to supply all our needs and was more than able to replenish that
which he takes away. You can find the story in Genesis 22. The point
is there is nothing grander, more glorious, more precious, nothing
worth more than knowing God and following his call to walk with Him
in this life and the one to come. The lives of David, Abraham,
Elijah, Elisha, Peter, Paul, and countless others attest to it. So
pursue God, cling to him as your only treasure, and worship Him who
can do far more than we can conceive, who loves us more than we can
comprehend and who is worth more than anything else.

"Foreverandever,
Etc."
Music
and Lyrics by David Crowder Band
From
the Album: "A Collision"
Track #5.
Love so
incredible to know
It's never gonna go
Never gonna go
Love too impossible and true
For anyone but You
For anyone but You
I think I'm on the brink of something large
Maybe like the breaking of a dawn
Or maybe like a match being lit
Or the sinking of a ship
Letting go gives a better grip
I'm finding everything I'll ever
need
By giving up gaining everything
Falling for You for eternity
Right here at Your feet
Where I wanna be
I am Yours
Love so indelible to know
You're never gonna go
You're never gonna go
Love too unthinkable and true
For anyone but You
For anyone but You
Maybe like a match being lit
Or the sinking of a ship
Letting go gives a better grip
I'm finding everything I'll ever need
By giving up gaining everything
Falling for You for eternity
Right here at Your feet
Where I wanna be
I'm finding everything I'll ever need
By giving up gaining everything
Falling for You for eternity
Right here at Your feet
Where I wanna be
I am Yours forever...
I'm finding everything I'll ever need
By giving up gaining everything
Falling for You for eternity
Right here at Your feet
Where I wanna be
I'm finding everything I'll ever need
By giving up gaining everything
Falling for You for eternity
Right here at Your feet
Where I wanna be
I am Yours
Forever and ever and ever and ever
And ever and ever and ever and ever... (repeat)
