A large problem with Christians today is
that there is little emphasis on growth and maturity in our
relationship with Jesus. God intends for us to grow in our knowledge
and experience of Him. He has provided His Word, His Spirit, and His
Church for this. First of all, we must have a vibrant relationship
with God through Jesus (more
info). Next to this, we must be connected to believers.
The church
is simply a group of people who have a relationship with Jesus
united together. We meet to worship the Lord together, we join
together in missions in our area and wherever the Lord leads us. We
pray for each other and encourage each other in the life that God
has called us to live. The church is referred to as the “Body of
Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:27, Ephesians 4:12, Romans 12:5). We
experience the working of God in a unique way in the fellowship of
believers. This is essential to growth in our relationship with God.
Also, each of us is given gifts that are essential to the function
and mission of the church. It is important that we plug in and do
our part in the body of Christ (Read 1 Cor. 12).
If you are
not already, you need to CONNECT; first to Jesus, then to other
believers. To the right are four possible steps you should take if
you have not already. Pray and ask the Lord to lead you as you seek
to forsake your own life to live the one he has for you.
We are praying for you.
