“May the
Few” is a song about the love of God in action as the believer cries
out for the salvation of the Lost. It is a song by Shane and Shane
off of their album “Upstairs.” It is a song in tune with God’s
desire for us to be His ambassadors of love and reconciliation to a
lost and dying world. 2 Peter 3:9 states, “9The
Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is
patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to
come to repentance.” Now we know that not everyone will be saved.
Both History and the Word of God reveal this. There were people who
lived in Jesus own day who died and went to Hell. Yet God has called
for workers to Go out into the Harvest, and He has appointed His
children with the task of proclaiming his gospel of salvation and
reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-21). Yet in Matthew
7:13-14 we find these sobering words:
13"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate
is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there
are many who enter through it.
14"For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to
life, and there are few who find it.
With these truths of Scripture in mind join in the song of the
redeemed, worship God for the glorious things He has done in your
life, and then pray that the Lord would give you His heart for the
lost and that the few might be many by His mercy and grace. |

"May the Few"
Lyrics and
Music by
Shane and Shane
From
the record: Upstairs, Track #4.
May
the few be many, Lord
May they see You as You are
May the narrow road be
Wide
here, Wide now
May Your kingdom come
Glorious and mighty
Are Your ways in all the earth
And may Your worth arrayed in glory
Render hearts that only worship You
We plea that they might know You Lord
May
the few be many, Lord
